Agriculture

Uruguay’s economy focuses predominantly on agriculture production, supported by the quality of its natural resources. Agro industrial activity
is a major contributor to its total GDP. This is a result of consistently high international prices for produce, the incorporation of key technology
to improve production performances, and the ever increasing technological development of direct sowing.
It is projected that 10,000 hectares of land will be required for cultivating soya bean, corn and wheat. The grains selected are ideal for the
rotation of crops to maximize the use of land resulting in increased profitable.
The proposal is that the produce cultivated will be processed in the soya bean and biodiesel plants built by the Foundation. Government policy
regarding agriculture is to maximize the use of local manpower thus increasing employment.
Perspectives
Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil represent more than 9% of the arable land globally and cover 23% of the world surface. Consequently Uruguay
has been identified as suitable for agricultural production. Worldwide demand for grains grew 11% in the last five years.
Land location
The choice of the land is crucial to the achievement of the proposed targets. The Foundation will need to consider and analyze various fertile
areas to avoid any climatic risks.
