Children’s hospital improvement

Uruguayan children’s health needs are met by a single teaching hospital facility in Montevideo. However it is also used for pre and post natal
care and has a neonate unit.
Working in conjunction with governmental health authorities, it is envisaged that a Specialist Medical Centre and Hospital will be built using
the latest medical equipment to assist the medical profession achieve excellence and maintain low mortality rates when dealing with young
patients. Uruguay has a well organised health system but is not always able to keep up with the latest technology available.
The building facilities and all equipment will be supplied to the hospital by the Foundation free of charge for their use and administered by the
Health Service of the Ministry of Health, Uruguay. The building and all equipment will remain as assets of the Foundation who will be
responsible for all upgrading of technology leading to the Hospital remaining a medical centre of excellence.
The Foundation will have guest surgeons from leading specialist fields come on tutorial visits to share their knowledge with the resident doctors,
so keys skills can be learned.
